In the United States, there are two different tests used are used in the selection of students at universities, the ACT (American College Test) and the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test). A higher score leads to a higher chance of admission. However, both tests however, use a different scale. Therefore, the descriptive statistics differ greatly: the average ACT score is 500 (s =100) and the average SAT score is 21 (s = 4.7).
Suppose Andrew and Brenda both score above average. Andrew has achieved an ACT score of 630 and Brenda has achieved an SAT score of 33 achieved. We only have 1 spot left and want to select the best student select. Which student scored the best?
